The Regulation of Cyber Obscenity

An analysis on judicial perspective.

Abstract

The issue of obscnity has always been complex one as it involve other related issues like decency and morality.  But this complex issue of obscenity, when it comes under the umbrella of cyberspace, becomes a threat for internet users became this has no limitation and has unrecognized users. This anixety gave birth to a question, like how this is to be regulated and to what extend is to be regulated? What should be the measure to regulate Cyber obscenity? In the past decade, the obscenity, under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and discuss all relevent provisions. Thereafter the author analyzed the concept of obscenity based on the judgement laid down by the Supreme Court of India. However this is a modest attempt to discuss and analyze the concept of cyber obscenity on the count of Supreme Court Judgment.
