Analysis of Cyber Phishing Laws in India

Abstract

Digital technology is quickly being integrated into nearly every part of modern society. The internet intrinsic existence has obliterated all physical borders, resulting in the development of a global information technology infrastructure. Because of the faceless existence of the digital infrastructure, identity theft has become a natural and attractive avenue. Phishing is
only one way to steal someone identity over the internet. A sort of fraud known as & phishing& involves con artists fabricating emails and websites that seem authentic in order to fool the target into divulging personal information. Phishing maybe a major concern within the contemporary e-commerce environment in India and can still be so due to the shortage of legal issues among the web users who are new the web realm. There no way to stop the phishing scam. Nevertheless, it has been observed that the majority of phishing scams, especially in India, are successful because the hackers prey on ignorant, credulous clients who, unaware that they are being duped, unintentionally provide the information that the scammer requests. Phishing can be especially pernicious, as it harms the individual user as well as the Internet in general. In order to combat the threat posed by phishing, law enforcement, industry, and legislators should work together. It also examined the causes of the rise in phishing activity as well as the different kinds of phishing techniques and phishing procedures. Further it has presented recent cases of phishing specifically in banking/ financial sector. This paper includes Phishing attacks have mushroomed to a large number during this lockdown(covid-19), and it conclude that in order to curb the problems new law have been introduced to investigate the cyber phishing cases.
