Abstract

Cameroonian populations are poorly informed about their legal rights to reparation as consumers of goods and services. As a result, there have been increase violations of their fundamental rights following the consumption of defective products without any reparation. This unpleasant quagmire can be explained by consumer’s apathy and ignorance in particular, as very few takes the trouble to read or know the existing redress mechanisms as to ascertain and understand their legal rights as consumers of goods and services. Thus, cognizance of the fact that there is no right without a remedy and conversely, where there is a right there is a remedy, the essence of this paper is therefore, to re-iterate the need to communicate the rights of consumers to reparations for damage suffers following the consumption of defective products or services and proffers some robust solutions which if effectively implemented, will help in minimizing some of the misunderstanding and problems faced by consumers of goods and services in the market milieu.
