Abstract

Corruption is still pervasive in the Indian system and hinders the nation's development despite several reforms and legal frameworks. It is one of the most pressing issues in India. In an attempt to bring black money back into the economy, Prime Minister Modi demonetised all 500 and 1000 rupees banknotes on November 8, 2016, replacing them with new 500 and 2000 rupee notes. Objective: The goal of the study is to analyse corruptions occurred in India and its effects. Methodology: A wide range of sources, such as published articles, research papers, reports, websites, and more, are used to collect secondary data. Results and Discussions: With several high-profile instances involving politicians, bureaucrats, and corporate leaders, corruption has been a recurring problem in India. India has seen a number of well-known people who were charged with corruption leave the nation to avoid prosecution. Findings: Legal complications and the lack of extradition treaties with some nations frequently impede continued efforts to extradite these fugitives, which have seen varied degrees of success. These incidents highlight how corruption affects India's governance and economy. Conclusion: To eliminate this threat and guarantee openness, responsibility, and moral leadership, the government, courts, media, civil society, and citizens must work together. Hopefully, we can eradicate corruption via persistent political and societal initiatives.
