Custodial Crime: One of the Worst Crimes in India

Custodial crime is perhaps one of the worst crimes which can be committed below the nose of any law governed country. Moreover, custodial deaths put a heavy blow at the so so-called law governed society. The author through this article study discusses the grey areas in the justice system and its consequences which lead to the custodial crimes. The article study also throws a beam of light on the reforms and the guidelines set by the landmark case of D.K. Basu vs. State of West Bengal. Overall, this article study tries to cover the journey of leading cases starting from Tukaram and Another v. State of Maharashtra (Mathura Rape case) to D.K. Basu v. State of West Bengal.
