Abstract

Public healthcare is the prime concern of any country’s government and specifically in India from the labour law perspective, the most establishments offer maternity benefits to women employees during pregnancy and after childbirth for the protection the rights of women employees. The maternity leave and benefits laws are desirable in any governments legal context to protect and preserve the rights of women employees belongs to any industry, factory or establishments. These rights include the salary or wage, compensation and medical bonus, etc. for the pregnant employee or worker from the employer. There is a need to steady medical supervision for that period of time and the adaptation of the woman's activities in line with her condition may significantly reduce the specific risks to her and infant’s health, that also enhance the probability of a successful outcome to the pregnancy and ensuring the healthy development of the child.
