Gender Justice in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: A Human Rights Perspective

Abstract

At an unprecedented rate, artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming social interactions, jobs, and governance. While artificial intelligence has promoted efficiency and creativity, it also raised significant concerns about human rights and gender justice. This paper examines the intersection of AI and gender from a human rights perspective, focusing on issues such as algorithmic bias, digital exclusion, surveillance, and structural inequalities. Drawing upon international human rights frameworks and recent empirical studies, the paper argues that AI systems are not neutral but often reproduce and amplify existing gender hierarchies. It further evaluates regulatory responses and proposes a rights-based, gender-sensitive approach to AI governance. The study concludes that ensuring gender justice in the AI era requires inclusive design, accountability mechanisms, and global cooperation grounded in human dignity and equality.
