The Relationship Between Aggregators and Platform Workers Under Indian Labour Laws

Abstract

In the backdrop of the modern Internet era, the paper aims to analyse the possible relationship between the ‘On Demand Aggregator Businesses’ and the Platform Workers associated with the said businesses as existing in India. The paper then moves on to assess the legal position with respect to an employee or a worker under the Indian Employment & labour legislations considering certain demands raised by the Platform Workers. It then moves on to assess the position of Platform Workers in the Labour Codes. It further discusses foreign perspectives on gig relationships and then suggests possible recommendations to deal with the gig relationships.
