The Sustainable Development Goal 10 (SDG 10), as outlined by the United Nations, aims to reduce inequality within and among countries, with a particular focus on economic disparities that disproportionately affect marginalized groups, especially women. Despite legislative efforts such as India's Equal Remuneration Rules of 1976, gender wage gaps persist, highlighting the need for stronger enforcement and policy development. This paper examines the role of the Equal Remuneration Rules in achieving SDG 10, focusing on their objectives to eliminate gender wage discrimination, promote fair employment practices, and align with international labor standards. The paper also explores the constitutional framework in India that supports wage equality and underscores the importance of equal opportunities in fostering economic inclusion and social mobility. By analyzing the intersection of domestic policies and international goals, this paper identifies areas requiring further intervention to ensure sustainable wage equality and equitable opportunities for all.
