Women’s empowerment refers to the creation of a space for women where they can form opinions of their own for their personal benefit as well as for society. Women’s commissions refer to strengthening and improving the social, economic, political, and legal status of women to ensure equality and enable them to claim their rights. This includes allowing them to freely live their lives with a sense of selfworth, respect, and dignity; have complete control over their lives, both within and outside their homes and workplaces; make their own choices and decisions; have equal rights to participate in social, religious, and public activities; and enjoy equal social status in society.
