Unfolding Women Survival Amidst Covid-19

Abstract

The world has suddenly awakened up to the truth of a virulent disease, “The COVID 19” this worldwide pandemic that has emanated an unparalleled wave of a public health crisis, economic instability, social challenges, which tie up gender inequality and feminism and has led to raging over for to the mental and physical safety of women. Of late, the government came out with unprecedented measures to save human lives by putting lockdowns in the entire Indian Territory. If the prime goal is to save human lives, it is worth asking ourselves: will the effective lockdown is able to save a life? Though it’s a preventive measure, it poses a fatal threat to women and girls leading to an undeniable spike in the cases of domestic violence, rising gender inequality and inaccessible to their right. It is well-attested that during a natural disaster, war, or a pandemic, women’s hold up the dreadful brunt of plight. Women are still less conscious of the laws and organizations, which deal with their rights. This study reveals the need for strong legislation and regulation on equal opportunities and women's rights.
