Big Data and Intellectual Property: Privacy and Data Protection Concerns

The rapidly growing field of Big Data offers enormous potential for innovation and insight but also poses substantial risks. By harnessing vast and complex datasets, innovation can flourish across various sectors. However, this very process raises concerns regarding intellectual property rights and, more importantly, the privacy and data protection of individuals. This paper explores the intricate relationship between Big Data, intellectual property, and privacy. It examines how existing intellectual property frameworks grapple with the unique characteristics of Big Data. Additionally, it delves into the privacy risks associated with Big Data collection and analysis, exploring current data protection regulations and their limitations. Finally, the paper proposes potential solutions and future directions to ensure a balanced approach that fosters innovation while safeguarding individual privacy.
