Abstract

The Indian M&A market has witnessed phenomenal changes over the last few decades, starting with being a small, insular regional market and increasing integration with global mainstream financial systems. In this ongoing journey, a critical development was the wave of Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs) sweeping across the world and now hitting the shores of India. PE is waking up to SPACs, a new way companies are going public without the rigors of the conventional IPO route.
Mergers and acquisitions in India are known to bring in both opportunities and challenges, and hence, SPAC discussions somewhat are compelling.
