Abstract

From time immemorial, the families of deceased persons have always had to find themselves in great financial hardship where the deceased had died intestate and happened to be the breadwinner of his family at the point of his demise. This difficulty is even enormous where the account(s) information of the deceased are appear to be unknown to his surviving descendants or where he had died without leaving a will or testament. This contemporary issue which still is a nightmare for the dependents of a
deceased person, has to an extent received a legal redress by way of laydown procedures which are still uncommon particularly to the Cameroonian society due to the lack of a unified procedure in matters of inheritance and succession in Cameroon. This work definitely sets out to uncover the specific statutory procedure and guides the families of deceased customers of banks in the former West Cameroon will need to follow so as to be in possession and subsequent ownership of the bank account of their beloved ones who have left this world.
