HDFC Bank: A study of Non Performing Assets

Abstract

The symbol of sound financial position of any bank is their assets mainly (Loan & advances). Quality of good Loans and advances (assets) shows the better management of risk i.e., default in loans and advances. Risk related to default in loans and advances is called Non-Performing Assets (NPA). NonPerforming Assets (NPA) is very important and key factor to decide profitability and efficient management of the Banking system. More or less all Banks of India is facing major problem i.e. bad quality of assets i.e., NPAs. Managing of NPA one of the major challenge facing by banks now a days. Rising of NPAs caused by large numbers of credit defaults that effects performance, profitability and Net worth of banks and raise corporate governance issue. This study analyzes the trends of net NPAs to net Advances, movement of Gross NPAs, movement of provisions for NPAs and movement of Net NPAs in HDFC, period covering 2011-12 to 2018-19.
