POSH SPECIAL ISSUE

Sexual harassment at the workplace. (POSH)

Gradually, society began to open up and pay attention to the education of girls. Women began to work in a variety of organizations over time. Women in India became more empowered as a result of education and acquired a foothold in the workplace, but sexual harassment was still pervasive and widespread.

A strong sexual harassment law was called for by people from all backgrounds of life to stop these acts.

The POSH Act comes into force on December 9, 2013, after 16 years of Vishaka Guidelines.

The Act is a good start toward ensuring a safe working environment for women because it compels all organizations with more than ten workers to form an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and to address workplace sexual harassment complaints from women in a timely and private way.
