Abstract

India has an old history with relation to protection of Intellectual Property in the form of patent of inventions. Britisher’s brought with them the first Act on Patent which was in
consonance with the Patent Laws in Britian. With the changing time and new developments in the field of technology the patents laws has been amended and adapted time and again in
India. The major change that was brought to Indian Patents laws was with reference to the
TRIPS Agreement. TRIPS brought in a series of amendments and alterations to the existing
patent laws in India. The present paper discuss the impact of TRIPS on Indian Patent Laws
and the Patent Law in India before coming into force of TRIPS Agreement. The paper tries to
give an overview of the changes brought in.
