Patents on Herb and Legal Consideration

Abstract

Intellectual property is usually important issue in intellectual property laws. Conceptually, a patent is usually given to any new development produced by ideas on new developer. The attempts in development have to be recognized and well protected. Since the patent is a sign for showing the belonging, the registration is necessary. The international recognition on this issue is interesting. Of several kinds of patents, the patents relating to drug in medicine are interesting. There are many new registered medical drug patents registered every year. The group of the specific patents relating to herbs is very interesting. The patents on herbs are usually following the researches in complementary and alternative medicine. Several patents are presently available and legally protected. In the present article, the authors specifically summarize and discuss on this specific issue.
