Abstract

Indian laws on copyright for streaming of music online is very limited. This paper deals with the two latest cases which is Spotify and Warner Chapple Music Limited conflict and the judgment given by the Bombay High Court on Tips Industry v. Wynk Music. The paper analyse Section 31 D of the Copyright Act, 1957 which is interpreted by the Court with respect to licensing the song/music track to the online broadcaster without an agreement with the music producer.
