The Commercialization of Artificial Intelligence and Its Implications for Intellectual Property Rights
Abstract
This research has critically addressed the impact of the use or commercialization of Artificial Intelligence on Intellectual Property Rights. Due to our existing Intellectual Property regime, only a human being can be a proprietor or owner of an Intellectual Property, implying that any Intellectual Property generated or invented by an Artificial Intelligence cannot be registered. The main goal is to expose how the technologies relating to Artificial Intelligence have seen exponential growth in recent times and now how technological advancements are making it necessary to revise laws to keep up with Artificial intelligence. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the traditional notions of Intellectual Property that are being pushed to their limit by Artificial Intelligence’s disruptive capabilities. The results show that Artificial Intelligence will undoubtedly have a big influence on our current legal system and practices. However, there are several issues that are likely to arise upon commercialization of Artificial Intelligence and there is a need to resolve these issues at the earliest.
