Achieving Sustainability Eliminating Marine Pollution and Fulfilling SDG-14: A Global Legal Framework

Healthy oceans and seas are essential for our existence and Sustainable Development Goal-14 has significantly elevated global awareness by highlighting the importance of preservation of seas and oceans. Sustainable Development Goal-14 (SDG-14) which is also termed as ‘Life Below Water’ was introduced in 2015 with a task to formulate a comprehensive legal framework to achieve sustainability towards Marine Pollution. The aim of SDG-14 is to prevent and mitigate the factors contributing to Marine Pollution. However, till date the lack of concrete and comprehensive international framework to govern the preservation of ‘Life Below Water’ has been an uphill task for global community.
