This article critically analyzes the relationship between sustainable development and environmental justice. Sustainable development and environmental justice are two concepts that have become increasingly important in the global environmental discourse. While sustainable development emphasizes the need for economic growth and development that does not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their needs, environmental justice seeks to ensure that all individuals and
communities have equal access to environmental resources and are not disproportionately impacted by environmental degradation. The article examines the potential conflicts between sustainable development and environmental justice, as the pursuit of economic growth often leads to environmental degradation and inequalities in access to environmental resources. The article also explores the ways in which sustainable development and environmental justice can be mutually reinforcing, and how they can work together to promote a more just and sustainable future. The article concludes that while sustainable development and environmental justice can be seen as competing priorities, they are in fact complementary and essential to achieving a just and sustainable future. The article argues that policymakers and practitioners must strive to integrate sustainable development and environmental justice into all aspects of environmental policy and decision-making, in order to ensure that economic growth is balanced with social and environmental equity, and that all individuals and communities have equal access to environmental resources.
