A Legal Measure to Protect the Sexual Health of Child Brides: In Light of the Assam Crackdown, January 2023
Keywords:
Child Marriage, Assam Crackdown January 2023, Age restriction to marriageAbstract
The deep-rooted evil practice of child marriage affects the health of women. Child brides often experience domestic violence and become pregnant during adolescence, which may sometimes become a life risk for them as well as their born or unborn child. On the basis of this crisis, a Bill was presented to raise the age limit of marriage. Recently we knew that the State Government of Assam took a grave step to eradicate the practice of child marriage to decrease the sexual and multi-physical health issues of the women, caused because of their early-age sexual orientation. Like every act or omission has some positive or negative response, this positive motive is a step of the government to blast agitation by the local people of the State. Legislature, executive, and judiciary are three tire systems of government and thus all three are directly and indirectly responsible for implementing any law or eradicating any social evil practice. But on the other hand, a point should not be neglected that the law is for the society, of the society, and by the society. So, any action taken by the respective authorities in favor of or betterment of the society should not contravene the nation’s peace and harmony. Government authority should be sensible enough to take reasonable steps so that objects will be fulfilled without causing
any harm.
