The article mainly talks about the origin and development of Hindu law. Laws are the basic building blocks for maintaining order in every society, in every nation, and in every sphere of life. The Hindu law in historical viewpoint is the study of law and jurisprudence from the Vedic period until the existence of medieval commentaries. Covering the early Sanskrit rulebook through the codification of Hindu law in present days, this interdisciplinary section examines the relations between Hinduism and law. The authors present a connection between the major changes in the legal system of India in both the colonial period and the recent changes in Hinduism. In doing so, the authors make past treatments of Hindu law a virtuously text-based tradition, and in the process, they provide a fascinating account of an often ignored social and political history.
