Abstract

Building resilient infrastructure, advancing inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and encouraging innovation are the three main objectives of sustainable development goal 9. Since real estate includes both infrastructure development and innovative building and design, it is essential to accomplish these goals. A key part of the UN’s sustainable development strategy, Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9) is primarily concerned with encouraging innovation, sustainable industrialization, and the construction of resilient infrastructure. Real estate, which is frequently seen as a symbol of both urban growth and economic prosperity, is inextricably linked to SDG 9’s goals. There is a significant dynamic interaction between SDG 9 and the real estate industry. The basis for the construction of sustainable infrastructure is real estate. The real estate industry has an indisputable impact on the development of inclusive, connected, and sustainable communities from housing and affordable shelter to smart city development and sustainable transportation systems. Simultaneously, real estate is essential to the advancement of sustainable industry because it promotes green building techniques, increases resource efficiency, and stimulates economic growth. Despite being a strong force behind sustainable development, the real estate industry is not without its difficulties. Resilience to climate change is still a major challenge, requiring real estate development to mitigate environmental consequences and apply adaptation techniques. Another difficulty posed by the pursuit of inclusive development is the industry’s need to offer solutions for cheap housing and provide marginalized groups with economic empowerment. The real estate industry is going through a radical change due to technological innovation. This paper explores the intersection of real estate and SDG 9, focusing on how the real estate industry can contribute to sustainable development. It delves into the challenges and opportunities, technological advancements, policy implications, and case studies that exemplify the
journey towards a more sustainable and inclusive built environment.
